We have worked with the same master carvers in Ghana for 25 years. The djembes are carved in the Volta River Basin.The trees are blessed. New saplings are planted. The shells are dried and cured for a whole year in Accra where they go through the Hamitan season, which translates as "Golden Dust". i.e. the Sahara blows in and pulls the moisture out of the drums in the tradional manner which gives the drums exceptional tone and durability. The goats are blessed. Adinkra tribal blessings are carved onto the drums. These are the best sounding djembes I have ever heard and they are perfect for the healing drumming meditation that we teach.
